What criteria should you consider when choosing a Property Valuer? Experience, expertise and local knowledge are the most important factors when choosing a Property Valuer.
Experience & Expertise
They should have relevant experience and expertise valuing similar types of property to yours. Experience provides a good understanding, and in turn the expertise and confidence required to value your property.
Does their online profile state they value this type of property?
What type of properties do they usually value?
Have they valued properties like this before?
Local knowledge
They should regularly value similar property types in the local area and have a strong history to prove this.
If a Valuer does not regularly value similar types of property in the local area, they may not have the best information. It does not necessarily mean they cannot or should not value the property. However, it may mean that your valuation may take longer or not be as accurate due to spending more time sourcing the information, usually from a local Valuer and analysing this information.
Does their online profile state they value property in this area?
What suburbs or patches do they primarily work in?
How many properties like this have they valued?
When was the last time they valued a property in your area?
Did you find this information helpful? Have you used a Property Valuer before?
